2019 marks the 40th anniversary of the founding of Westport Volunteer EMS.  As part of our celebration, we decided to talk with some original members and some current members of the service about why they volunteer their time, how WVEMS has affected them, and some of their experiences working on the ambulance.

The interviews were recorded at the Westport Public Library, and we thank the staff there for providing their equipment and expertise. The interviews were conducted by Steve North, a print and broadcast journalist for over forty years, and we thank him for graciously donating his time.

Although there are literally hundreds of volunteers who have donated their time to helping our community, the ten people here represent a good cross section. Some are young, some are old(er), some are men, some are women, some are students, some are full time workers, some are retirees.

All of them have a passion to help others.
