WVEMS has members operating at all of the Connecticut State EMS levels. We have Volunteer EMT-Paramedics, EMT-Intermediates, EMT-Basics and Medical Response Technicians. We provide CPR, EVOC, EMT Basic and Medical Response Technician training at no charge for our active members. For Advanced Life Support Training, our members attend training at a local hospital or community college. We provide for our members monthly continuing education as well as basic life support refresher courses.

Annual Awards
Each year we have an award event for our members and their families. We recognize all of members and their contributions in the past year. We also present the following individual awards:
Crew Chief of the Year
This award is given to a crew chief who does a superior job of supervising, instructing and working with their crews. This award is open to paid and volunteer crew chiefs and special event crew chiefs.
EMT of the Year
This award is give to an EMT that has shown outstanding performance, skill and knowledge as an EMT.
Volunteer of the Year
This award is given to a volunteer member who during during the past year has made a meaningful contribution to the continued development and improvement of WVEMS.

Special Awards
This award is given to a person who has shown a special interest in WVEMS and its continued high level of service. Members, non-members and paid staff are eligible for this award.
